National Poetry Day 2024!

Today, was National Poetry Day 2024 and as usual, Frogmore celebrated in style!

We had our annual National Poetry Day Assembly where we shared two poems from Roger McGough - one via YouTube, the other performed by Mr Furzland. This year's theme is on 'counting' so Mr Furzland shared another poem called '11 things You could Use a Pea for' - with some clever and funny possibilities!  Counting could be mathematical or based on things, people, feelings, and places we 'count on' during our day or in our lives.

Mr Furzland reminded everyone that poetry and stories are often hugely similar as is music and lyrics. All of them have a message or 'back-story'. All of them can be interpreted differently and enjoyed (or not) in different ways. Classes then went off and some wrote their own poems about 'what counts' and others will do so at a not-too-later date.

We had a great day!
