National Poetry Day 2023!
Mr Furzland led a whole school assembly around this year’s theme ‘Refuge’. He talked about what the word meant, and places that take us to a safe, happy place. He then shared the recording of the famous poem, ‘Chocolate’ by Michael Rosen which the children loved.
Afterwards, children wrote poems about their own special ‘refuge’ or special place – which included ‘home’, ‘bedrooms’, ‘dreams’, ‘grandparents’, ‘holidays’ ‘a starry night’ and the beach. Some really lovely work was completed, and we will put a display in reception soon. The focus of the day was to write poetry, perform poetry and ultimately enjoy poetry! Thank you Mr Furzland for your enthusiasm and love of poetry.
